Asif Suhaf, Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Pulwama of South Kashmir on Saturday morning. The incident is being reported from Mitrigam area. It is being said that the terrorists escaped after the action taken by the security forces. A brief encounter broke out between the joint team of terrorists and security forces in the early hours today, in which the terrorists managed to escape.
Police sources said that the police had received information about the presence of terrorists in Mitrigam village of Pulwama. Acting on intelligence input, the security forces launched a search operation. It is being told that as soon as the search was intensified, the hidden terrorists opened fire on the security forces. After this, the security forces also retaliated.

Sources said the terrorists managed to escape from the encounter site during the search after the firing. The official said that it appears that during the initial exchange of fire, the terrorists managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
SIA’s action continues
Meanwhile, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) is conducting raids at several places in central and south Kashmir districts as part of its probe into a separatist case registered against a terrorist.
The raids were carried out in the summer capital Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and other districts by sleuths of the probe agency with the help of local police and CRPF, sources said.

The SIA teams also raided the residence of Sarjan Ahmad Wage alias Barkati s/o Abdul Raziq Wage, r/o Reben Zainapora, Shopian district. Official sources said the raids are being conducted in connection with a case already registered with the SIA.
