Amardev Paswan’s report from Kolkata: BSF personnel of ICP Petrapole, 145th Corps under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a smuggler along with 40 biscuits of gold weighing 4 thousand 667 grams on International Border. The total value of gold seized by BSF is Rs 2 crore 78 lakh 57 thousand 561.

In a statement issued by the BSF, it was said that the jawans on duty received information that a smuggler was going to smuggle gold into India via ICP Petrapole in a truck. According to BSF, a team of jawans was formed on the instructions of higher officials.
40 gold biscuits recovered
After some time a Bangladeshi truck entered the Indian border. BSF team searched the truck. During the search, 40 gold biscuits were recovered behind the fish box. The jawans immediately caught the truck driver and the gold. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Sushankar Das, District Satkhira, Bangladesh.
During interrogation, the accused smuggler revealed that he has been driving the truck for 15 years. The owner of the truck, Safikul Islam, had loaded fishes in this truck from Satkhira. After this these fishes were to be handed over in Kolkata. But as soon as he entered the border, the BSF’s search team nabbed him with gold biscuits.
