West Bengal: West Bengal BJP leader and former chairman of Asansol Municipal Corporation Jitendra Tiwari has been arrested. Tiwari was arrested from the Yamuna Expressway near Delhi.
In December last year, three people were killed in a stampede during the distribution of blankets. This event was organized by Jitendra Tiwari at Dhadhka in North Thana area of Asansol. A case was registered against him.
Jitendra was going towards Agra with his wife
Jitendra Tiwari along with his councilor wife was going towards Agra by road on Saturday. The Bengal Police had got a clue of this. As soon as Jitendra’s car appeared on the Yamuna Expressway near Delhi, the police surrounded him. Bengal police arrested Jitendra and left for Delhi airport.
If sources are to be believed, preparations are being made to bring Jitendra Tiwari to Kolkata via flight from Delhi airport.
The High Court had dismissed the bail plea
Explain that the Calcutta High Court had refused to grant anticipatory bail to Jitendra Tiwari and his wife Chaitali Tiwari and other accused in the stampede case during blanket distribution. A total of eight people have been arrested in this case so far. Out of which six have got conditional bail. However, the police have not yet confirmed about the arrest.
Dilip Ghosh said – this act of revenge
BJP’s Bengal state president Sukant Majumdar has confirmed the arrest of Jitendra Tiwari. Dilip Ghosh, former president of the state BJP unit, says that this politics of revenge is happening. That’s why he has been arrested. This is not an arrestable case.
Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari had arrived as the chief guest in the blanket distribution program in the blanket distribution case. However, this incident took place after Shubhendu Adhikari left the programme.
