Uttar Pradesh: There is a holiday for schools in Uttar Pradesh on 28 November. A holiday has been declared here on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyr’s Day. The General Administration Department has issued an order in this regard on Wednesday. This order has been sent to the heads of all the major departments of the state, the District Magistrate, Principal Secretary Legislative Assembly, Information and Public Relations Department. Schools and all other government offices will remain closed on this day.

The death anniversary of Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth of the ten Gurus of the Sikhs, is celebrated on 28 November. He was assassinated in 1675. On the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, he was martyred in Delhi where Gurudwara Sheesh Ganj Sahib is at present. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was a supporter of religious freedom.
Explain that the Uttar Pradesh government has changed the holiday date declared on November 24 under executive orders on the occasion of Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyr’s Day. Now November 28 has been declared a holiday under executive orders. For this, the UP government has issued a notification.
