New Delhi: Indonesia’s top minister Dr Mohd Mahfud MD will be in Delhi next week at the invitation of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Dr. Mohd Mahfud is Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. He will be accompanied by a high level delegation of Ulema.

Ulema, who is visiting Indonesia on November 28, will also hold talks with his Indian counterparts. The discussion will be on ‘Role of Ulema in promoting a culture of interfaith peace and social harmony in India and Indonesia’. The Ulema play a very important role in the Islamic society and the purpose of this discussion is to bring Indian and Indonesian Ulema and scholars together. which can advance cooperation in promoting tolerance, harmony and peaceful coexistence and combating violent extremism and radicalisation.
According to news agency ANI, there will be three sessions of the meeting. In which the first will be on Islam: Continuity and Change, the second on Harmonizing inter-faith society: Practice and Experience and the last on Countering Radicalization and Eextremism in India and Indonesia. According to information, NSA Advisor Ajit Doval will inaugurate and conclude the program and a joint statement will be issued at the end.
